Description

Office 365 Business

Microsoft Office 365 Business is built for your business. It’s the Office you know, plus tools to help you work better together, so you can get more done—anytime, anywhere. It’s the best choice for businesses that need the desktop version of Office applications, and other business services.

Office 365 Business allows you to use programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on your desktop computer, but it does not provide you with an email address. It is also the only plan that doesn’t include SharePoint, Skype for Business, Yammer, or Teams.  Office 365 business users have access to the desktop versions of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Access. While Office 365 Business does come with Outlook, it doesn’t come with access to the business-class email hosting of Exchange. This means that you can use Outlook to run your current email from a different email hosting provider. Teams is not directly included in this plan. However, the company unveiled a free version of Teams. So, if the Office 365 Business plan works for you, but you want to the communication aspect of Teams, you can still sign up. Because it is a free version, it likely will have less features compared to the paid version.

This package does have access to the online storage system OneDrive, but not SharePoint. Both these programs can be used to the same end – to store documents in a cloud-based service and share them with co-workers. But SharePoint offers more features that separate it from OneDrive, like Dashboards to feature company news and announcements, Sites to streamline a team’s documents into one area, and Workflows to set up notifications for things like document editing. The nature of Office 365 Business makes it great for small businesses looking only to reap the benefits of Microsoft’s core apps. Without access to collaboration tools like SharePoint or Microsoft Exchange business-class email hosting, Office 365 Business is a basic app-based subscription package.

Office 365 Business is everything a business could want at an affordable price. It also includes the office suite that many users are used to using. It also provides top-notch security and uptime that Microsoft stands behind. Microsoft has done a good job of safeguarding the privacy of its users. No Microsoft employee has direct access to email data without following very specific procedures. Office 365 also supports the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and a BSA can be signed for the organizations that need it. Microsoft insists that any information shared with third parties would be done as part of an authorized transaction for the purposes of integration or troubleshooting.

If you have less than 300 employees, Microsoft has a series of Office 365 plans known as the “Business” editions.
